Nutrition and dietetics is a science that studies how we should consume foods and how we can improve our health positively by making better food choices.

This field is relevant to both the health and food industry. Nutrition and dietetics is the application of nutritional and nutritional knowledge to promote health and prevent or minimize disease. The science of nutrition and dietetics conducts scientific studies on the application of diet in health and disease, the preparation of foods and food intake.

Nutrition explores the metabolic and physiological roles of nutrients in the body. Dietetics, on the other hand, deals with the treatment of nutritional diseases and the prevention of disease complications. (eg: diabetes, gout, chronic kidney diseases, weakness, obesity, etc.)

The basis of health is adequate and balanced nutrition. “Adequate and balanced nutrition” is defined as adequate intake of nutrients necessary for the development and regeneration of the body and its functioning, and the proper use of the body and constitutes the basis of health.

Inadequate and unbalanced nutrition is the basis of chronic diseases that cause premature death, which is an important public health problem today.

In order to reach the expected quality of life in the globalization period, it is necessary to increase the nutritional awareness of all individuals and the society, and to transform healthy nutrition into a lifestyle. On the other hand, in order to achieve a healthy diet, physical activity habits should be gained and alcohol and tobacco use should be prevented.

Nutritional problems such as weakness, iron deficiency anemia, iodine deficiency diseases, vitamin D deficiencies, dental caries, and obesity that impair the quality of life in the society can be minimized or prevented. Again, the prevention of chronic diseases related to nutrition, such as cardiovascular, vascular, hypertension, some types of cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis can only be achieved by reaching safe food and consuming these foods in a sufficient and balanced way.
