WHERE IS BOTOX USED FOR AESTHETIC PURPOSES?
Botulinum toxin, whose use for aesthetic purposes has increased especially in recent years, is used for many purposes such as the elimination of dynamic facial wrinkles due to facial expressions, correction and reshaping of asymmetrical or defective structures on the face, prevention of jaw and teeth clenching, reduction of sweating, elimination of laughing defects, elimination of wrinkles in the neck and décolleté area. Botox application is also performed in HC International Clinic in Ankara in necessary indications.
HOW DOES BOTOX WORK?
Botulinum toxin prevents the release of acetyl choline, a substance that transmits nerve impulses from the brain to the muscles through the nerves, preventing the muscles from contracting and thus preventing facial expressions. In this way, it eliminates facial wrinkles due to dynamic facial expressions and regional excessive sweating.
HOW LONG IS BOTOX EFFECTIVE?
The effect of Botulinum toxin injections performed in competent and trained hands lasts for 3-6 months and then disappears. This effect may last longer in sweating botox. The injection should be repeated as the effect diminishes and disappears, otherwise the corrective effect disappears.
IN WHICH AREAS CAN BOTOX BE USED?
Botulinum toxin injections are most commonly and effectively used to remove wrinkles between the eyebrows, transverse forehead lines and crow’s feet on the outer edges of the eyes. In addition, Botulinum toxin injections can be performed in appropriate areas to remove the rabbit lines on the nose, partially correct the cigarette lines around the lips, correct the downward curling of the lips, and reduce the transverse lines on the neck.
In order to prevent excessive sweating, sweating botox is most commonly applied to the armpits, palms and soles of the feet.
To prevent jaw clenching, Botox is applied into the masseter muscle on the face.
Botox applications are successfully performed in our polyclinic in Ankara HC International Clinic.
As in every medical procedure, patient selection is an important issue in Botulinum toxin injections and there are conditions to be considered.
WHO CAN BOTOX APPLICATION BE PERFORMED?
Pregnant and lactating women, those who are prone to bleeding or who use medications that cause bleeding tendency, those with allergic structure, those with neurological diseases, those with severe diabetes are not suitable candidates for these injections. Candidates to be selected for underarm sweating botox should not have had surgery in this area before. People with psychological problems and people with excessive expectations are not suitable candidates for such aesthetic applications.
It is appropriate for candidates not to have consumed alcohol before the procedure, not to have used cosmetics and make-up materials, not to have used drugs that increase bleeding tendency, drinks such as green tea. Amino glycoside group antibiotics should not have been used. There must be no skin infection or disease at the injection site. Again, candidates should not have a systemic infectious disease.
HOW LONG DOES BOTOX APPLICATION TAKE?
Botox application is performed on an outpatient basis and does not require hospitalization. In 15 minutes, a personalized application plan is made, the dose of the drug to be given to which points is determined and injections are made using very thin and short needles. The application should always be planned by considering personal characteristics and anatomical structure. Although there is generally no need for regional anesthesia, local anesthetic creams can be applied to people with hypersensitivity before the procedure.
HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX APPLICATION COST?
Drugs containing botulinum toxin are generally expensive drugs produced abroad and the application is also high priced. Unfortunately, there are a number of non-original products produced under the stairs in the market and used by some people. It should be kept in mind that such products may cause side effects, their effects may be short, and candidates should be reminded that they should not be attracted only by the cheap application.
Again, some cosmetic effective creams claiming to have Botox effect are marketed, but such creams are both expensive products and their effects are short-term and temporary.
