Prof. Dr. Halis ŞİMŞEK
In 1980, he graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. In the same year, he started to work as a research assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine of the university. During his internal medicine speciality training, he was a guest researcher at Charing Cross Hospital in London for three months. In 1984, Dr Şimşek completed his residency training and completed his compulsory service in Karabük State Hospital. Between 1987 and 1989, he was trained as ‘International Bockus Fellow’ in the Gastroenterology Department of the Medical College of Georgia in the United States of America, and in addition, he was a guest researcher in the Gastroenterology Department of the University of Florida in 1989. Dr Şimşek, who returned to Hacettepe University after his education abroad, completed his gastroenterology speciality training in 1990, and was awarded the title of University Associate Professor in the same year and Professor in 1996. In 1991, Dr Şimşek was a guest researcher in the Department of Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
