He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1980. He received his internal medicine specialisation in 1984 and pulmonology specialisation in 1991 at the same faculty. He became associate professor in 1991 and professor in 1999.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, pulmonary infections, environmental lung diseases are of special interest.
