In 1979, he graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine with the second rank. He did his specialization in the Department of Urology at the same Faculty of Medicine between 1979 and 1983. Following his compulsory service and military service, he started to work as an assistant professor at HÜTF Department of Urology in April 1987. He became associate professor in 1988 and professor in 1995. Between 1991 and 1992, he was a fellow in neurourology and andrology at Long Island College Hospital in New York, and in 1995 he was a fellow in Female Urology and Voiding Defecation Section at Cleveland Clinic Ohio. Between 1998 and 2001, he was a fellow at the same clinic.
In 1988, he was awarded the first prize in the Turkish Urology Association’s inter-assistant paper competition and in 1989, he was awarded the first prize in the Bedii Gorbon Cancer War Foundation. In 2001, he was invited to Houston Baylor College Urology Department as visiting professor.
He pioneered the surgical treatment of female incontinence in Turkey. He initiated sacrol neuromodulation (bladder pacemaker) treatment for the first time in Turkey in 1996.
He served as the President of Andrology, Continence and Ankara Urologists Association. He was a member of the Qualification Board of Turkish Urology Association for 2 terms.
He has over 200 national and international publications.
He is a member of Society of Urological Surgery, Continence Society, Minimally Invasive Urology Society, Urooncholgy Society and EAU.
He has been working full-time at HC Clinic since July 2021.
